mixed bag of thoughts

March 27th, 2020 at 02:42 pm

I feel for all those out there that either are at risk and worried or having a difficult time during this crisis.
I am really done with all this BS we are getting in the media as the numbers ( often different by every source)are not making sense.they simply do NOT have REAL numbers too many may have had with mild or no symptoms and recovered these will never be confirmed.
In my area a local death was being reported without the patients age/ health issues or other complications in order i believe to LEAD the story in a way to scare more people.
The person's family came out and stated age/ previous health issues and the fact the person did NOT seek medical help until it was too late regardless that the family had urged the person to for a week. I seriously cannot trust the local news after this blatant omitting of information to fit a narrative.
I did not get out before the great TP buyout and now down to my last few rolls so will need to venture out to find supplies it has been a couple weeks i have a hard time seeing why some still have no stock of some items.
The company I am at is open and most are working from home which means even less work then i had going in but as i am doing work and no cost for commute or other expenses I actually have came out a bit ahead this last 2 weeks.
I also do not understand what some people call essential as the number of places closed here seems to be smaller then those still open as "essential"

Practically everyone over the age of 30 has at least one "health issue." There are plenty of people under the age of 50 who have died from COVID-19. Local TV affiliates don't often have more than a few minutes to report on any one story, so if there are too many details, they'll just get edited out for purposes of brevity. If you doubt the numbers or their veracity, look to multiple news outlets for your news. The message will be the same. The only people not taking this seriously are Trump, who seems bent on telling people to return to work by Easter, and teenagers partying on spring break.

I can appreciate that not all deaths are over a certain age.

Perhaps the point of more then a few articles I have read or seen chose to not list age is to convince those younger people who think it is only dangerous to the elderly etc to take this seriously, this instance was not about brevity as they rambled on( 2 paragraphs) with his hobbies and quotes from several co-workers but simply omitted any age etc.
Family came out on FB and let people know to SEEK help not wait like their loved one did.
I am looking at MANY sources and again the numbers are not matching.
I also know at least 3 ppl whom can only guess that they had it as they were sick for a week but did not meet some criteria for testing .....now that they recovered they do not know if it was regular flu or the virus.

I think many who have sought help have died anyway. There is no treatment, other than being put on a ventilator.

I hear you on the numbers smallsteps. Most people don't realize that during a traditional flu season 365 people die per day in the US. We have NOT even reached that number per day for the short duration that we have been counting at least last I looked, which was a couple days ago. We are doing a very bad job of testing all with similar symptoms. There are limits on the kits made available each day simply because they would then over run the labs who analyze them. This is a failure of our health systems to be prepared. I would encourage anyone that thinks they had it and was never a confirmed test to get an antibody titer test when available simply for peace of mind.

CB, there are other treatments, high dose IV Vitamin C, ozone (worked for Ebola) and that malaria drug. There may be others, but these are not commonly used by traditional doctors. Vitamin C and malaria drug have been used in the US on this virus and have helped plenty of people. It's rare to hear about it on the traditional channels because they get their advertising dollars from the big drug companies, who make zero dollars on these. If this is all about lives, we must be willing to try outside the box treatments particularly if the side effects are very low, most help the ill very quickly, just a couple days in most cases. The costs for all the ones I mentioned are very low too in comparison to ventilators and keeping hospital beds full.

The US is full of some ill people for sure. And eventually we have to figure out why that is and if we can do better. The healthiest immune systems are the ones that can recover from nearly any illness without complications.

I think there is a big difference in various spots in the country. I was looking at some models and the NY and NJ lines of cases went almost straight up while other states have a line that may increase a little but in comparison to NY looks like their line is flat. I am constantly amazed at the one size fits all attitude when it comes to any government intervention.

Some places including the University of Washington in Seattle have been using combinations of the malaria drugs before it was Officially given the FDA go ahead this week.

I do not know if it is even worth it after this slowed down to get a titer test that would confirm if some who assume they had it actually did.

It is also interesting if we find out why some countries for example have had a horrible time vs others who have not, perhaps it is age and average health of the populations. Not just medical systems or testing.
Even if more tests were out there it would show MORE cases and LOWER the death rate percentage.
